The Kaufmann typeface was created by the famous designer, Max Miedinger, in collaboration with the equally famous designer, Eduard Hoffman. The font was commissioned for use by Linotype in their corporate font library, but is also widely used in the publishing industry.
The font is inspired by sans-serif typefaces of the early twentieth century but also incorporates features of slab serif typefaces. The original Kaufmann was first released in 1917 and was discontinued in 1983.
